She's Got Legs!

And she knows how to use them…or does she?

Summer, Summer, Summer Time…There is no time to just sit back and unwind! It is SUMMER and every woman knows what that means. Skin is in Season!

The time to sweat the blood and tears as we try to prepare for all the short shorts summer will throw our way! Summer trends always heat up the runways and red carpets. Flawless glowing skin is the hottest fashion accessory any woman can have but months of the drying winter can leave our skin with more fizzle than sizzle! Here are a few steps to have the glowing bronze skin we all adore!

EXFOLIATE:

The best way to prepare your skin before you begin the torture of summer plucking, shaving, waxing, tanning is to rub away those dry, dead skin cells!

There are many shower gels and exfoliates (sugar or salt make sure to reach for sugar exfoliants when considering all over body exfoliating. Salt can be too harsh on sensitive skin.) on the market to try but the best are the most simple. Nature really does know best! If you can actually read the label with out needing to bust open your Latin translator you’re in business!

Want to save a buck or two ? Just make your own! Yep, its very simple. Use what you have already around the house. Grab your olive oil, honey, and granulated sugar mix them together and gently rub into your skin. You can use this all over your skin!  Use the sugar to rub away the dry skin and the olive oil will help hydrate and leave your skin silky smooth.

SHAVE/ WAX:

Shaving and waxing can leave skin irritated and not to mention the cuts and nicks! By Exfoliating first this should give you a smooth base to work with however there are products and ideas that can make it faster and easier.

Vitamin E:

Try razors that have vitamin E conditioning strips built on the razor which will leave your skin smooth and less irritated.

Hot or Cold water are a no, no.

Shaving with hot water opens the skins pores and can cause your skin to break easier. Shaving then and well.. you have one hot bloody massacre in your bath. Cold water can cause you to have goose bumps which of course defeats the entire purpose to exfoliating to get that wonderful smooth base! (It also closes the pores which of course makes the skin hold tight against the hair!) Stick to warm water and keep your skin tight as the razor slides against the skin.

Shaving Cream:

Try to find shaving creams which are less toxic and more natural. Look for products that contain Vitamin E, Coconut oil, Olive oil, Jojoba oil, Aloe, Vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract, eucalyptus, peppermint, and things like rosemary oil.

Wax:

Get a Pro! Professionals know what they’re doing..enough said.

Prior to waxing apply something to numb the skin like No Scream Cream. Take an aspirin or ibuprofen about 30 - 45 minutes before your wax.

Skip the morning rituals like Smoking, beer or wine (hey some do that in the morning!) and coffee. The acid in the body's system causes severe skin sensitivity so try a Tums 20 minutes before your service.

BRONZE:

No need to hit the tanning beds or bake outside in the sun all day. Remember your skin is the largest living organ of your entire body and we need to protect it! Try self tanners and bronzers. Look for paraben-free self-tanners and go organic. Better for you and the planet!

Now who wears short shorts…..We all can with these awesome tips. Enjoy your summer and be happy in your skin!
